![]() I have to apologise to Shinn for the last review I left on trip advisor when I said he was anti-social, I was 100% mistaken, shinn is game for a laugh and we spent some good hours chatting and having a laugh. I must say Michael (Italian), Akeem (Pakistani), Mayra (Korean) & even Shinn (Chinese) make this hotel what it is. The multi-national people who work at the 24hr bar/reception are the most friendly people in the world. The hostel/hotel is amazing, we were 3 Scotsmen who went to Amsterdam basically for a piss up and to get a wee weekend break, this is the 2nd time ive used this hostel and can safely say it wont be the last. The (quality) food and service provided by the staff, is truly "OUTSTANDING!" More Show less (I use to work in a 5 Star Hotel in San Francisco.) As someone who has "traveled the world", I highly recommend visiting The Peak Restaurant at the Dusit Thani Resort in Pattaya, Thailand. All the other staff members are just as professional and well trained as Ms. The Manager, Pimchanok Kotabin and the head waiter, Supan Manomai, provide "excellent" service in regards to recommending what specialities are offered by the restaurant. I've had three GREAT lunches at The Peak Restaurant, all dim sum. Frankly, I forgot what they are, but the 30 plus other items more than compensate for the ones you can't get on the buffet. Beside the price difference, the only other difference between ordering a'la chart and the buffet, is that four items on the a'la chart menu are not offered on the buffet. I think there are are over 30 different dim sum items, 4 soups and 5 desserts to choose from. If ordering the buffet, simply tell or point to the picture and the server will bring it to you within minutes. A menu (with color pictures) is provided. There is no set-up or display of the dim sum. Everything is prepared fresh, inside the kitchen. If your "hungry", you can't beat the buffet. The restaurant offers two choices ordering a'la chart or buffet. But if you want and value excellent food, service, "ambience" and a terrific view of the bay, I highly recommend The Peak Restaurant. Frankly, there are many who offer it "cheaper" than what The Peak Restaurant, located inside the Dusit Thani Resort, is offering it for. There are many restaurants in the city of Pattaya, Thailand, that offer dim sum. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think there are are over 30 different dim sum items, 4 soups and 5 desserts to choose from.īeside the price difference, the only other difference between ordering a'la chart and the buffet, is that four items on the a'la chart menu are not offered on the buffet. Make the legendary dim sum siu mai recipe at home, and you will believe the story above to be true. There are many restaurants in the city of Pattaya, Thailand, that offer dim sum. The story behind the new name is that the dumplings were so good, they were never left unsold, turning them into a "hot sale.” The delicious pork and shrimp dumplings would always sell like hotcakes. When the dish started to become more and more popular and have traveled down South, the original 捎卖 shao mai takeaway dish turned into siu mai 烧卖 (burn sell) - almost the same sound but different meaning. Different characters with similar pronunciations meant "side sale.” When the Silk Road travelers stopped for a snack, they could get 'shao mai' 捎卖 alongside the Mongolian milk tea. It turns out that the delicious steamed dumpling got its name in Hohhot in Inner Mongolia. Unlike self-explanatory har gow (literally meaning 'shrimp dumpling') or char siu bao (roast pork bun), siu mai translates to a confusing 'burn sell'. One of the most popular and known dim sum dishes - siu mai (or shu mai) does not have a very clear name.
